MEMBER EVENTS & ACTIVITIES

 

1. From the American Independence Museum, Exeter:

Sat., Dec. 6 & 13.  An American Girl Holiday.  Bring your doll and learn how American Girls Felicity, Samantha and Molly observed the Christmas season.  Tour, activities, role-players, crafts and refreshments.  Admission:  $20/pp; paying adult must accompany the child.  Pre-paid reservations are required; call 603-772-2622 or email education@independencemuseum.org.  Sessions will be held at 10am, 11am, 1pm and 2pm.  Best for ages 7-11.  The American Independence Museum, One Governor's Lane, Exeter.  http://independencemuseum.org.

 

2. From Enfield Shaker Village:

Sat., Dec. 6, 6:30PM.  Candlelight Holiday Dinner.  Enjoy a traditional dinner in the Great Stone Dwelling.  Executive Chef Betsy Oppenneer's menu includes cranberry bean soup, Believer's Bread, Prime Roast, Shaker parsnips and more.  $35/member; $40/non-member; includes complimentary wine.  Register by Dec. 3.

 

Sun., Dec. 14, 1pm.  Cookie Fair.  Select from 100 different varieties of homemade cookies festively arranged for the season.  Sold by the pound.

 

The Enfield Shaker Museum and Store will be open in December 10am-4pm Mon.-Fri. & 12-4pm Sun. (Closed Thurs., Dec. 25).  Free admission to all Town of Enfield residents in December.  The Enfield Shaker Museum, 447 NH Rte. 4A, Enfield.  603-632-4346.  http://www.shakermuseum.org.

 

3. From the Exeter Historical Society:

Tues., Dec. 2, 5:30-7:30pm.  Holiday Open House.  Stop by and enjoy the exhibits, refreshments, music, decorations and good cheer!  To set the mood, Mamapella - a 12-woman a cappella group based in Exeter - will be performing 6-6:30pm.  The Culinary Arts Department of the Seacoast School of Technology is catering with scrumptious treats for all to enjoy.  Free & open to the public.  47 Front St., Exeter.  603-778-2335, info@exeterhistory.org, or http://www.exeterhistory.org.

 

4. From the Horatio Colony House Museum & Nature Preserve, Keene:

Fri., Dec. 5, 7-8:30pm, & Sat., Dec. 6, 1-2:30pm.  Holiday Open House.  The lovely 1806 home will be festooned with traditional seasonal decorations from long ago.  The home has all original furnishings from 4 generations of one of Keene's prominent industrialist families. Cookies & cider will be served.  Also, Friday evening at 5:30pm is Keene's Tree Lighting Ceremony at Central Square.  Catch both these events to get in the holiday spirit.  Free admission.  603-352-0460 or http://www.horatiocolonymuseum.org.

 

5. From the Laconia Historical & Museum Society:

On Exhibit:  (1) Now through January 31, 2009, at the Laconia Public Library, Annalee.  A special holiday season exhibit of a once-upon-a-time story of a doll-making cottage industry that made it big.
