2. Historical Society of Cheshire County The 2005 Alstead Flood Exhibit, prepared by the Alstead Historical Society and on display at the Historical Society of Cheshire County, has been extended to November 17th. Hours are Tues., Thurs., & Fri 9am-4pm, Wed 9am-9pm, and Sat. 9am-12noon.Two guided gallery walks will be held on Wed., Nov. 14th at 7:00pm and on Sat., Nov. 17 at 10:00am. 3. Enfield Shaker Museum Sun., Nov. 4, 2pm. Enfield Shaker Museum Annual Meeting. Keynote Speaker: Beverly Sheppard, President, Institute for Learning Innovation and former President of Old Sturbridge Village.
Fri., Nov. 9, 6:30pm. Taste of the Upper Valley. An evening of food, fun and festivities with nearly 15 Upper Valley purveyors of find food donating signature dishes for this fundraiser to support the Museum operations. Live auction. $50 per person.
Sun., Nov. 11, 1-4pm. Herbal Gifts from the Garden & Kitchen. Herbalist Happy Griffiths will demonstrate how to make a variety of products. Take home samples, recipes and data sheets. $40/member; $45/nonmember.
Sun., Nov. 18, 1-3pm. Stress Free Teas for the Holidays Workshop. Head Gardner Heather Hough will lead this workshop with simple instructions on how to make your own tea. Take home your special blend and tea ball. $30/member; $35/nonmember.

4. Exeter Historical Society Tues., Nov. 8, 7:30pm. The Flying Yankee & Its Restoration. Presented by Carl Lindblade. Discussion will include history, news of restoration and what the future holds for this rare passenger train that brought visitors to and from Boston's North Station to Littleton, NH daily in the early to mid-1940's. 5. Franklin Historical Society Thurs., Nov. 1, 7pm. Past Perfect Presentation. By Jennifer Carroll-Plante, Executive Director of the Laconia Museum & Historical Society. Other historical societies thinking about using this software or who are wrestling with the best way to inventory their archives can see a demonstration of its capabilities. Free & open to the public. Held at the Franklin Public Library, 2nd Floor. 6. Gilford's Thompson-Ames Historical Society Mon., Nov. 5, 7:30pm. A Tour of the Notches: White Mountain Art, History & Nature. Presented by Bob Cottrell, Director of the Remick Country Doctor Museum & Farm, and held at the Thompson-Ames Historical Society's 1834 Union Meeting House, 24 Belknap Mountain Road, Gilford. 7. NH Mayflower Society Sat., Nov. 3, 11am. Fall Members Meeting. Held at the Holiday Inn, 172 No. Main St., Concord, NH. 9. NH Farm Museum Sat., Nov. 10, 10am-3pm. Spinning & Weaving on the Farm: A Seminar on Historic Domestic Textile Production in Northern New England. Presented by traditional weaver Craig Evans and designed for those interested in identifying, collecting and interpreting the textiles and implements of domestic textile production in pre-industrial Northern New England. Space is limited to 16 and pre-registration is required. $30 Members; $35 Nonmembers. 10. Remick Museum Sat., Nov. 3 & Sun., Nov. 4. Logging with Oxen. For expert teamsters, learn to harvest woodlots using oxen.
Sat., Nov. 17, 10am-12pm. Soap Making Workshop. Learn the step-by-step process to make a basic lye soap. Learn the history of soap-making on the farm and render your own tallow.
Sat., Nov. 10, 1-4pm. Historic Thanksgiving. Learn about how foods of Thanksgiving feasts have evolved over the centuries and more. Free & open to the public.

11. Pontine Threatre Fri., Nov. 2-Sun., Nov. 4. Carmen: The Mopera. The Pontine's 30th Anniversary Performance Season's kick-off. Performances Fri. 8pm, Sat. 4pm & 8pm, and Sun. 2pm. Tickets $25 ($20 Sat. Matinee).
Through Tues., Nov. 27, 5:45-7:15pm. Do-It-Yourself Performance Workshops. Join Co-directors Marguerite Mathews and Greg Gather to learn how to bring you ideas to the stage. $30 tuition covers all 6 workshops. Participants will be able to perform their works on stage on Sat., Dec. 1, 7:30pm.
